Earlier this Year Filey International Food Festival and Malton Food Lovers Festival were invited , by their MP Kevin Hollinrake , to stage an exhibition at the Palace of Westminster of some of their best Yorkshire produce
The brief was to showcase as broad a variety of the Food festival offerings as possible, within the limited space of the Palace’s Jubilee Room.
The contributors included Masons Yorkshire Gin , Yorkshire Wagyu , GWS Sustainable Seafood , Horsetown Beers , Three Little Pigs Yorkshire Chorizo , Orchards of Hustwaite Cider , The Twisted Chilli and the Sawley Kitchen .
The two towns were represented by the White Lodge Hotel from Filey , and the Talbot Hotel from Malton ably assisted by the Malton Cookery School . All are well known for their promotion and usage of local produce. A range of artisan food products from Malton town were represented. These included tastings from the YO Bakery , Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil and Costellos
The Clucking Pig was as popular as usual , and has now supplied the Duke of York and others of the Royal Family with his wonderful Scotch Eggs at Buckingham Palace in March and again in April.
Tour of the Palace
After a tour of the Palace kindly arranged by Kevin Hollinrakes office it was a busy afternoon with MPs and Peers , including Ministers, the Yorkshire ex Paralympian Baroness Masham and Palace staff. All took an opportunity to sample the delights on offer.
Mr Hollinrake said ‘It was a superb showcase of some of the best food in Yorkshire and highlighted the beauty and vibrancy of Malton and Filey. It was also wonderful to meet so many business people with great back stories of how they started and developed new businesses. I am very grateful to Chris Elley of Filey Food Festival and Tom Naylor- Leyland of Malton Festival for their time, hard work and dedication.’
